Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority welcomes its newest Chairman, Vice Chair and Board Member

Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority is excited to welcome new Commissioners to our organization, as they help us continue to find ways to strategize and assist us in meeting our agency goals and mission.  This month we introduce our newest Commissioner, John A. Kish.

Congratulations to our Newly Elected Board Officials

 In addition to welcoming a new Commissioner, Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners also elected a new Chair and Vice Chair.  

ChairMan Linwood Nelms, Jr.

 

Chairman Linwood Nelms, Jr., a 12-year Commissioner appointed to the Board of Commissioners in March 2006, was nominated and elected as Chairman to replace Robert L. Samuel, Jr.  Chairman Nelms is a graduate of Old Dominion University and the School of Banking, with a 30-year background in Finance, Auditing, Bank Management and Commercial Lending.  Chairman Nelms has served in positions on the South Norfolk Civic League, Chamber of Commerce, Chesapeake Hospital Authority Board, ODU Research Foundation Board, Rotary Club, and others. 

Vice-Chair Rebecca C.W. Adams

 

Former City Council member Dr. Rebecca “Becky” Adams, a graduate of William and Mary (earning her Ed.D./Doctoral in Education), Jackson State University, Duke University and Longwood College, was nominated and elected as the Board’s new Vice Chair.  Dr. Adams has a long history as a community advocate for such organizations as the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Chesapeake Care Clinic, the March of Dimes and the Great Bridge Battlefield and Waterways History Foundation.  She has worked with low-income housing and chaired the building of over 20 homes in the South Norfolk and Deep Creek areas.
