HUD Strong Families Initiative 2023
On Saturday, June 10th, CRHA's Resident Services staff hosted the 2023 HUD Annual Strong Families Initiative event at the Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Community Center. The theme was Guns Down, Drums Up (Stop the Violence Awareness). The annual event featured a live band (videos shown below), Shark City Drum Corporation, dancers, games, food, and service providers to support families living in HUD-assisted housing by connecting them to resources that expand economic growth, health, education and promote empowerment. The event provided an ideal opportunity for communities to deliver a wide variety of resources to families via a network of various community partnerships.

CRHA thanks all the partners who participated in this annual event. A very special thanks to Beach Party Ponies Barnyard Petting Zoo for providing live animals for the families to interact with and enjoy. We also thank Pastor Dave Peterson of the Apostles Lutheran Church for the refreshments, and Phyllis Stoneburner of Healthy Chesapeake (AKA “The Bubble Master”).
